Dolphins' Quinn Ewers Gets Bad Prediction on NFL Future in Miami

After selecting Quinn Ewers in the 2025 NFL draft, some have suggested that he could potentially win a backup role for the Miami Dolphins.

However, according to a recent report from Dolphins beat writer Alain Poupart, it isn't likely that he'll have an opportunity to be a backup, as Zach Wilson is expected to win the job.

He added that the only way Ewers is going to win a job as a backup in 2025 is if the former first-round pick has a terrible training camp.

"The only way Ewers winds up as the backup in 2025 is if Wilson completely flops in camp and/or the preseason and Ewers shines," Poupart wrote. "It’s absolutely Wilson’s job to lose."

Going with Wilson as the backup quarterback seems to be the better plan. While he hasn't necessarily been great, throwing for 6,293 yards, 23 touchdowns, and 25 interceptions, Ewers has no experience at the NFL level.

There might be a chance that Ewers has the tools to be a decent NFL quarterback one day, but that time won't be now for the Dolphins.

Frankly, if they lose Tua Tagovailoa again, it likely won't matter who the Dolphins put at quarterback. The team will struggle just as they have for much of the past year and a half when Tagovailoa goes down.

For Ewers, this will be a valuable opportunity to learn during training camp and identify what he needs to do to compete for a job in the NFL.

It might take a few years or a couple of injuries to go his way, but with the way things have gone for the Dolphins, he can't be surprised when his name is called.
