Dolphins Release Nick Westbrook-Ikhine
The Miami Dolphins have released WR Nick Westbrook-Ikhine today, along with Tyreek Hill, Bradley Chubb, and James Daniels.
This move has Miami eating $1.6 million of dead money this season, and opening up $1.5 million of cap space.
Westbrook was a huge disappointment this past season, with only 11 receptions for 89 yards, and he provided no help to the Dolphins’ offense.
I would say this creates a void in the Dolphins WR room, but it really doesn’t because he provided so little production last season. This is like losing a player who wasn’t there to begin with.
Wide Receiver is a huge area of need for Miami this offseason. I have even seen some mock drafts lately with Miami taking a WR in Rd 1.
While I find that very unlikely, it isn’t impossible.
Replacing Tyreek Hill’s production won’t be easy, and whoever the Dolphins’ next quarterback is, they need to give him some weapons, well, more than just Jaylen Waddle and De’Von Achane.
Miami’s current WR room stands with Jaylen Waddle, Malik Washington, and Tajh Washington as the only players you truly trust to play in a game, and Tajh Washington has limited experience at that.
Theo Wease came on late for Miami in December/January, but he is still a work in progress.

The Miami Dolphins signed Ikhine last season to a 2-year, $6.5 million deal with $3.2 guaranteed.
Nick Westbrook-Ikhine was undrafted in 2020 and signed with the Titans. He has 19 career touchdowns, and 9 came this past season in 2024. Those 9 touchdowns came on 32 receptions for 497 yards.
