The Miami Dolphins are wasting no time clearing salary cap space as on Friday, they released running back Raheem Mostert, which will save them $2.9 million on the cap. No,w putting them in the neighborhood of $10 million over the cap. Miami will have to become cap-compliant by the start of the new league year in early March.

Mostert will be 33 in April and is coming off a poor 2024 season in which he only rushed for 278 yards and two touchdowns. He had key fumbles early in the season vs Indy and Buffalo that many feel cost Miami wins that, in hindsight, kept Miami out of the playoffs.
In 2023, Mostert had 21 total touchdowns and led the NFL with 18 rushing touchdowns.
During Mostert’s 4 years in Miami, he had 28 total touchdown, ran for 4.6 yards per carry, and for 2,181 rushing yards. He also had 75 receptions for 538 yards.
Miami still has De’Von Achane on their roster with 2nd-year player Jaylen Wright, so they saw very limited action in 2024. Many believe Miami will look at adding another running back in free agency or the upcoming draft.
