Dolphins Restructure Contract of Jordyn Brooks; Create $3 Million in Cap Space
Field Yates of ESPN is reporting that the Miami Dolphins restructured the contract of linebacker Jordyn Brooks on Thursday morning.
They converted part of his base salary into a signing bonus, opening up $3 million in salary cap space that can be used right now.
With a laundry list of Dolphins players being injured, one has to think they want the salary cap space to go out and sign a few players to help backfill some of the players who were lost to injury and placed on IR.
Do not expect any big-name additions, but bodies to help fill out the roster for the last 10 games of the season.

Since joining the Dolphins in 2024, Brooks has been one of their most consistent players on defense and a leader and an outstanding outside linebacker for Joe Barry and his linebacker group.
He was voted team captain this season.
In 2024 with the Dolphins, Brooks had 143 tackles and three sacks.
So far through 7 games with the Dolphins in 2025, he has 75 tackles and 1.5 sacks.
With the Dolphins about to embark on a rebuild, Brooks is someone the Dolphins may want to keep around.
Although his play on the field is at a very high level, and he could be someone Miami looks to move via trade either before Nov 4th or in the offseason, if a team that is a contender or in a better situation to “win now” wanted to add a piece to their defense.
His contract runs through the 2026 season, although Miami did put two void years on that deal for 2027 and 2028, which they will have to account for Brooks on the cap, even though he may not be on the roster.
