Dolphins Roster Cut Tracker: Reed Heads List of Early Moves

As with most teams, the Miami Dolphins got an early jump on their roster cuts to get down to the 53-player limit by Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET.

The Dolphins had released seven players by 3 p.m. on Monday, according to multiple reports, the most prominent being linebacker Malik Reed.

The others were DT Jamal Woods, DT Josiah Bronson, WR Chris Coleman, LB Aubrey Miller Jr., DT Jaylen Twyman and T Geron Christian. ESPN reported the moves with Reed and Twyman; Barry Jackson of The Miami Herald reported the other transactions.

As vested veterans, Reed and Christian had their contract terminated and are free to sign with any team.

The other five players were waived and could be claimed by another team before becoming free agents.

With all these moves, keep in mind that the Dolphins should have roster spots open by Wednesday after they place some players — starting with Jalen Ramsey — on injured reserve to allow them to come back this season. Reed fits into that category of somebody who could return.

The Dolphins also could wind up signing some of them to their practice squad, which again will feature 16 players. Teams can have as many as six veterans of any NFL experience or 10 players with two or more accrued seasons.
