Dolphins running back claims he could beat teammates Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle in race

Dolphins running back Raheem Mostert believes he can outrun the "Cheetah."

During an appearance on NFL Network's "Good Morning Football," Mostert said he could beat teammates Tyreek Hill, nicknamed "Cheetah" for his electrifying speed, and Jaylen Waddle, another of the game's fastest wide receivers.

Mostert forgot to mention rookie running back Devon Achane, who could be the fastest.

Per NFL Next Gen Stats, Mostert clocked the third-fastest time by a ball carrier this season (21.62 miles per hour), only trailing teammates Achane (21.93 m.p.h.) and Hill, who was slightly faster than Mostert on a Week 1 47-yard touchdown reception (21.66 m.p.h.).

This season, Mostert leads the Dolphins with 240 rushing yards and six rushing touchdowns. He's second on the team with 319 yards from scrimmage, only trailing Hill, with 412 receiving yards.

The Dolphins had a great offense through two weeks, but their 70-20 Week 3 over the Broncos has put them in the conversation for all-time great NFL offenses. They are averaging 43.3 points through three games. Since the 1970 AFL/NFL merger, the 2013 Broncos hold the record for highest points per game average for one season at 37.9 points.

Miami is tough to defend, with Hill's and Waddle's speed on the outside forcing teams to keep safeties deep but a rushing game that can expose light defensive boxes. Per NFL NGS, Mostert has faced eight or more defenders in the box on only 14.63 percent of his carries.

How are teams supposed to stop that?

Mostert's challenge to teammates Hill and Waddle illustrates a broader point about the Dolphins' place in the NFL through the season's first three weeks.

The only thing challenging Miami is itself.
