Dolphins Sign CB Alex Austin
The Miami Dolphins have signed CB Alex Austin, per NFL Insider Jordan Schultz.
Austin will be 25 in May and was a 7th-round pick of the Buffalo Bills in May. He was then on the Houston Texans roster before joining the Patriots in November of 2023.
He has played in 29 NFL games, starting 6.
In 2025, with New England, he played in 12 games and started 2. He had 13 total tackles and no interceptions.
As well as being a cornerback, he is also a special teams ace
Sources: The #Dolphins are signing former #Patriots CB and special teams ace Alex Austin to a 1-year deal.
The 24-year-old has 8 career PBUs and 1 INT, as Jeff Hafley continues to bolster his secondary — in a deal done by Malki Kawa and Shawn O’Gorman of First Round Management. https://t.co/Orbs7LJWbd pic.twitter.com/3pgQTDVZ0o

Miami’s secondary is void of talent right now.
With Minkah Fitzpatrick being traded to the Jets, Kader Kohu, Jack Jones, and Rasul Douglas are all free agents. Miami needs to replenish its secondary.
Ashtyn Davis and Ifeatu Melifonwu are both free agents as well and not expected back in Miami.
The Dolphins do have Storm Duck, Jason Marshall Jr, and Dante Trader all under contract, but they are all unproven players at this time and not guys you would want starting on a team.
Miami also re-signed Ethan Bonner a week or so back.
Expect the Dolphins to invest heavily in the secondary come late April’s draft, and to continue to look for veterans they can sign on cheap 1-year deals as well the rest of free agency in hte lead up to training camp.
