Dolphins Sign EDGE Rusher Joshua Uche

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports the Dolphins are signing EDGE rusher Joshua Uche to a 1-year deal.

Uche will be 28 years old in September and is a former 2nd-round pick of the New England Patriots in 2020.

He was in New England from 2020 to 2024. Midway through the 2024 season, he was traded to Kansas City.

And last season he spent with the Philadelphia Eagles.

In his NFL career, he has played in 76 games, starting only 4.

He has 21.5 career sacks and 109 career tackles.

Last season in Philly, he played in 12 games, started none, and had 1 sack and 23 total tackles.

In 2022, with the Patriots, he did have 11.5 sacks in a single season.

With Miami very thin at the pass rusher position, Uche has a great chance to get playing time next season.

Chop Robinson is the only viable pass rusher you can count on returning to the Dolphins in 2026.

Chop is coming off a very disappointing 2nd season in which he battled injuries, but when healthy, he wasn’t very productive on the field.

EDGE Rusher is a position I expect Miami to attack heavily in the upcoming draft and again in free agency with more under-the-radar signings like this one.

Bradley Chubb was released a few weeks ago, and Jaelan Phillips was traded last year at the deadline, so the Dolphins look to rebuild this area of the team.

Miami announced the re-signing of linebacker Willie Gay as well on Wednesday, and he will help provide some depth at the linebacker position.

Miami was able to make this move because they opened up around $8.5 million in salary cap space early Wednesday morning with the announcement they have restructured the contract of right tackle Austin Jackson.

Miami may look to give out extensions to Jordyn Brooks and Aaron Brewer to open more cap space in the coming weeks and months.
