Dolphins sign former top-5 draft pick

The Miami Dolphins have a lot of new faces in town after a busy offseason, including a new head coach, GM and quarterback.

On Monday, the Dolphins added another notable name in hopes of a career resurrection: Clelin Ferrell.

Ferrell was the fourth overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft by the Las Vegas Raiders.

Ferrell played with the Raiders through 2022. He then played with the San Francisco 49ers, Washington Commanders and one game with the Los Angeles Chargers in 2025 before returning to San Francisco.

Ferrell has played a total of 98 regular-season games with 184 total tackles, 21 sacks and four forced fumbles. This past season, he combined for nine games with 25 tackles and four sacks, so the Dolphins are hoping he can turn things around and give them a veteran presence on defense.

The Dolphins fired Mike McDaniel as the head coach after the 2025 season and hired Jeff Hafley as his replacement while also bringing in Jon-Eric Sullivan as the new GM.

Miami then gave QB Malik Willis a $67.5 million contract in free agency after moving on from Tua Tagovailoa, so it is a new era in South Beach with plenty of changes.

Apart from that, the Dolphins have also rolled the dice on veterans such as WRs Terrace Marshall and Jalen Reagor, and now they are hoping Ferrell can find some of his magic this season.
