The Miami Dolphins are continuing their financially savvy offseason with the latest news of signing cornerback Artie Burns to a one-year deal, per Adam Schefter of ESPN. The terms of the contract have not yet been released.

Burns, a former first-round pick by the Steelers, was born and raised in the Miami area and attended Miami University before being drafted. Burns spent four seasons with Pittsburgh before leaving for Chicago in free agency, where he only played one season. Following Artie’s time with the Bears, he joined the Seahawks in 2022 where he remained up until this point.

This past season for Seattle, Burns played in just four games due to a toe injury suffered early on in the season. Due to lost time, Burns was later released and re-signed to Seattle’s practice squad in December. Burns was not tendered a futures contract with the team following the end of the regular season.

Throughout his eight-year NFL career, Burns has four interceptions and 38 pass break-ups. At 6’0 190 lbs., Burns is an exceptional tackler on the perimeter as well, with 199 total tackles throughout his career.

Burns adds depth to a Dolphins cornerback room, which currently includes Jalen Ramsey, Kader Kohou, Storm Duck, Cam Smith, Ethan Bonner, Jason Maitre, and Isaiah Johnson.

Burns provides Miami with an extra layer of veteran depth on the backend, which should help a young, inexperienced secondary in 2025.
