Dolphins Sign RB Mike Boone
The Dolphins added a second running back today in the wake of the season-ending injury to Alexander Mattison.
They signed RB Mike Boone.
Boone is 30 years old and went undrafted in 2018. He has played for Minnesota, Denver, Houston, and Carolina.
He has played in 72 NFL games, starting only 2. He has 590 career rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns.
Last season in Carolina, he played in six games, had 13 rushes for 51 total yards.
Dolphins have signed RBs Mike Boone and Aaron Shampklin, and placed RB Alexander Mattison on season-ending injured reserve.

Earlier in the day Miami signed RB Aaron Shampklin.
Shamplklin went undrafted in 2022 and has been on the practice squad of the Dallas Cowboys, Indianapolis Colts, and LA Chargers. Last year, he played for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Last season, he played in three games and had six carries for 17 yards.
This move was made to replace Alexander Mattison, who was lost for the season with a neck injury on Sunday. Miami also worked out Jamaal Williams today.
Mattison has been having a fantastic training camp thus far, so this is a huge blow to the Miami Dolphins running back room.
This will give Miami Dolphins rookie Ollie Gordon II a huge opportunity to become the 3rd string running back and get more playing time.
Gordon had a fantastic first preseason game vs the Bears on Sunday.
The 6th round pick will now push Jaylen Wright for the backup running back role.
Mattison is 27 and is a former 3rd-round pick of the Minnesota Vikings in 2019. He spent last season with the Las Vegas Raiders.
For his career, he has 2,790 rushing yards and 15 rushing touchdowns. Last season in Las Vegas he played in 14 games, started 7, ran for 420 yards, and four touchdowns. He also had 1 receiving touchdown as well
Last season in Las Vegas he also caught 36 passes for 294 yards. Three times in his career he has caught more than 30 passes in a season.
He got his most work in 2023 with the Vikings, playing in 16 games, starting 13 and ran for 700 yards. In his career he has played in 89 games, starting 26. For many seasons, he was the primary backup RB in Minnesota.
