Dolphins Stock Up/Stock Down Report: Dolphins vs Bills Recap
Gregory Fisher-Imagn Images

Week 3 of the regular season is in the books, and the Miami Dolphins put up a fight but came up short in Orchard Park, NY, to go to 0-3. There were some good moments from the Dolphins this week, but overall, it was much of the same from Miami. And there are no moral victories at this point in the season.

Here is my Stock Up/Stock Down report.

STOCK UP

Ollie Gordon: He moved the chains, converted some short-yardage situations, and scored a touchdown. I want to see him on the field more, as good things seem to happen when he is on the field.

Bradley Chubb: Three sacks in three games, he has been Miami’s impressive pass rusher this season. And if you’re the Dolphins, Chubb is increasing his trade value, so if they look to move him at the trade deadline, they may get more than a 6th or 7th round pick.

De’Von Achane: Once again, he shows he is the best player on the team. He may be Miami’s top receiving option this season, even ahead of Hill. And running the ball, he has been as good as you would expect—a total superstar.

Ashtyn Davis: I thought he had a very good game. You won’t see it on the stat sheet, but Davis broke up some passes, was in on some big tackles, and had good coverage at other moments.

Tyreek Hill: Another touchdown by Hill, and 9.8 yards per reception. He is back to being heavily involved in the offense and is someone opponents have to account for.

STOCK DOWN

Mike McDaniel’s Play Calling: It was awful, few if any shots down the field, most of the passes were at or behind the line of scrimmage. It’s not a sustainable way to win in this league in the modern era. He got away from the run….again. Ollie Gordon had some nice runs but wasn’t on the field enough.

Miami’s Run Defenses in the 1st Half: At one point, the Bills had 9 yards per carry; it settled in at around 8 yards per carry. They couldn’t stop anything on the ground. It did improve in the 2nd half, mainly because Buffalo got away from the run for some reason.

Tua Tagovailoa: $212 million, $167 million fully guaranteed. Two weeks in a row, he comes up really small in the 4th quarter. Can’t have that from your “franchise quarterback.”

Special Teams: Zach Sieler‘s roughing the punter penalty was really bad, and it is the 2nd roughing the punter penalty for this unit in three weeks.
