Dolphins Stock Up/Stock Down Report: Dolphins vs Patriots Recap

Week 1 of the regular season is in the books, and the Miami Dolphins played better than last week, but they came up short as the Patriots returned a big kickoff return to take the lead, and then their defense sealed the game with a late interception on Tua. The Dolphins fall to 0-2 and now travel to Buffalo.

Here is my Stock Up/Stock Down report.

STOCK UP

De’Von Achane: He’s the best player on the offense, which makes him the best player on the team. He seems like the first option in the passing game these days, and he is great at running the football, even behind backup offensive linemen. Achane is going into a contract year. I will tell you now, he is going to hold out of training camp 2026 unless Miami gives him a new deal after this season. Now, Miami shouldn’t pay him now or anything, and I don’t want to look down the road, back to the point, Achane was great last week, he was great this week.

Riley Patterson: He was fantastic today and made all the kicks. I know he only has one more week of being called up from the practice squad, but if I’m Miami, I ain’t letting him walk and I am adding him to the active roster.

STOCK DOWN

Anthony Weaver and the Dolphins Defense: They are terrible, maybe the worst defense in the entire NFL. It took until the 3rd quarter for this group to finally force a punt, but the first half was so bad, it was legit six straight quarters to start the season of garbage defense.

Tyrel Dodson: If there is a poster boy for all of the problems on defense, it’s Dodson. He was bad last week, and he was worse this week. He is getting too much playing time, and Miami cannot start him next week. He is out of position, runs himself out of plays, can’t tackle, its been ugly!

Tua Tagovailoa: For 3 quarters, he was pretty good, but he came up small on two occasions in the 4th quarter. He is paid to make those plays in the 4th quarter, Tua let Miami down today.
