Dolphins Taking Trade Calls on Jaelan Phillips

The man known as RickeyScoops on Twitter, who has broken countless huge NFL stories in recent years, including the Pittsburgh Steelers trading for Jalen Ramsey and the Green Bay Packers trading for Minkah Fitzpatrick just a few months back, is now reporting that the Miami Dolphins are actively shopping EDGE rusher Jaelan Phillips.

He is also reporting that the Dolphins are receiving calls on Jaylen Waddle and De’Von Achane, but trading either of them seems unlikely for Miami.

There have been reports in recent weeks from ESPN and ProFootballNetwork that Phillips would be a hot candidate at the trade deadline.

Phillips is in the final year of his contract and will be a free agent after the season.

His time in Miami will likely end then, as the Dolphins will enter a rebuild with the arrival of a new general manager and head coach.

Phillips is also coming off two major injuries, a ruptured Achilles and an ACL injury, so there is a risk and a question of whether he can stay healthy long term.

He was a 2021 first-round pick by Chris Grier, who had a promising start to his career and was on track to become one of the elite pass rushers in the league before injuries derailed his career.

PFN reported a few weeks back that Tampa Bay, San Francisco, and Dallas were possible trade suitors for Phillips.

There have been reports in the past week or so that Jacksonville and Philadelphia will also be in the market for an edge rusher.

The Dolphins have multiple edge rushers they can trade here at the deadline.

Bradley Chubb, in his final season with the Dolphins due to his contract, is also recovering from three ACL injuries. He would likely be a desirable trade target and a perfect rental piece for a team making a Super Bowl push.
