Dolphins to Work Out Another UFL QB
The Miami Dolphins are reportedly bringing in UFL Champion quarterback Chandler Rogers for a tryout.
This visit comes off the back of poor quarterback play in the Week 1 preseason matchup against the Commanders and a groin injury to Quinn Ewers.
Rogers played for the Louisville Kings of the United Football League this past season, where he won a championship as the starting quarterback. He had a lengthy collegiate career prior to that, playing 6 seasons for 5 different programs.
His most impressive season was with the North Texas Mean Green, where he tossed over 3300 passing yards with a 29 to 5 touchdown to interception ratio through the air. The University of California was his final stop, where he appeared in 8 games after losing the starting job to Fernando Mendoza.
He went undrafted in the 2025 NFL Draft, but made his professional debut during the UFL season. Rogers split time starting early on, but ran away with the job towards the end of the season.
This will be the Miami Dolphins’ 3rd official visit with a UFL quarterback, following meetings with Jack Plummer and Austin Reed. Rogers, though a champion, was not as impressive as the other two on the stat sheet. Rogers does offer a lot in the run game, as he was able to tally 155 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns in his UFL tenure.

The Dolphins had a rough go with their backups in last week’s preseason game. They did not score a point after pulling the starters, with Quinn Ewers and Cam Miller combining for 4 completions in roughly 50 minutes of football.
After the game, it was announced that backup Quinn Ewers suffered a groin injury and would be sidelined for the next game and potentially longer. The team brought back undrafted quarterback Mark Gronowski just a week after he was originally waived, but he may not be enough.
Gronowski struggled heavily throughout training camp. Miami now tries its hand with some other quarterbacks, and Chandler Rogers is reportedly getting a fair shake. There is no word on whether he will be signed or not, but his dual-threat ability and professional experience are something that may intrigue the front office. The Dolphins play their second preseason game against the New York Giants on Saturday, August 22nd.
