For much of the offseason, Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill has had his sights set on beating a man with the last name Lyles in a race.

Originally, it was Noah Lyles, an accomplished American sprinter who won a gold medal in the 100-meter dash with a time of 9.79 seconds at the 2024 Olympics in Paris. The two had arranged to race each other, but "complications" and "personal reasons" in finalizing details of the event, according to Lyles, resulted in its cancellation.

But on June 28, Hill matched up against another member of the Lyles family in a race – and won.

Hill and Lyles' younger brother, Josephus, ran in the same heat of the ATX Sprint Classic in Austin, Texas, where the former recorded a career-best time of 10.10 seconds running a distance of 100 meters. Hill finished fourth in the seven-runner heat, 0.15 seconds ahead of Josephus Lyles and 0.10 seconds behind first-place finisher Lawrence Johnson, according to NBC's Travis Miller.

The All-Pro wideout also made sure to throw some shade at Josephus Lyles in the process, writing that he "dusted Lil Lyles" in a post on social media.

Hill's appearance at the ATX Sprint Classic marked the second time Hill has competed in an organized track and field event this offseason. He previously ran at a Last Chance Sprint Series event in Los Angeles, where he won the 100-meter dash with a then-personal best time of 10.15 seconds. According to NBC Sports, Hill ran against some notable competition in the form of Isaac Bostio, last year's NCAA Division II champion in the event, and former Michigan sprinter Asani Hampton.

The Super Bowl Champion still has yet to reschedule his race with Noah Lyles, and it remains to be seen when Hill will fully pivot his efforts from the track to the gridiron to prepare for the 2025 season, his 10th in the NFL.
