Dolphins Were Smart to Pay Zach Sieler

For the last few years, the Dolphins’ front office has sent the wrong message.

They have traded for veterans from other teams and then immediately paid them.

What kind of message does that send to players within the organization?

It tells them that no matter how hard they work, Miami will always look to replace them.

That is not really a vote of confidence from the organization.

It also has not helped that the players they have traded for and then given big money to, have all left the team.

For example, Miami traded Hunter Long and a third-round pick for Jalen Ramsey in 2023.

After a contract readjustment in his first year, Ramsey got more money from the team in 2024.

Meanwhile, players like Robert Hunt and Christian Wilkins, who were homegrown players, left the team and signed elsewhere.

The Dolphins could have chosen to extend those players early, but instead, they went “all in” and gave money to Ramsey.

That backfired in a hurry, as he is no longer with the organization.

It seems, though, the front office has learned from its mistakes.

Recently, they decided to extend their best player on the defense, Zach Sieler.

Sieler, unlike the last couple of highly-played Dolphins, has actually been with the organization for a while and has developed into a high-level player in his time here.

He was claimed in 2019 off waivers and has turned into one of the best players at his position in the league.

Not only that, but off the field, he has done all the right things as well.

That is the kind of player that the organization should look to extend.

Homegrown players.

Not mercenaries.

Sieler sets the example for younger players and new draftees.

If you play well, the organization will reward you with more money.

You do not need to go somewhere else to find the money.

You can make it here and play for the Dolphins to help the team win.

Chris Grier should be commended for finally doing the right thing.
