Don Shula once had 10% stake in Dolphins

Miami Dolphins legendary head coach Don Shula was once given a 10% stake in the team to pry him from the Baltimore Colts in 1969, according to the Action Network's Darren Rovell.

At the time, that stake was worth $750,000, but is now worth at least $200 million, Rovell says. Shula sold the stake back to owner Joe Robbie a few years after he accepted the deal.

Shula led the Dolphins to two Super Bowl championships, one perfect season and a countless number of playoff appearances during his tenure with the organization from 1970-95. He's the winningest coach in NFL history, and that's no surprise after coaching for 33 years.

The Hall of Famer died earlier this week at 90 years old, and is being remembered around the NFL community for his contributions to the game and his incredible career.
