Donald Trump pardons brother of Brian Urlacher in sports betting case

Chicago Bears Hall of Fame linebacker Brian Urlacher has been very vocal in his support of Donald Trump over the last four years. It appears that support has paid off.

With under 12 hours remaining in his presidency, Trump pardoned Urlacher's brother, Casey, who was facing federal charges related to a sports gambling ring that prosecutors say brought in millions of dollars.

"President Trump granted a full pardon to Casey Urlacher," the White House said in a statement. "This pardon is supported by his friends and family, and countless members of his community. Mr. Urlacher has been charged with conspiracy to engage in illegal gambling."

Casey Urlacher faced up to 10 years in prison, and Trump pardoned him while his case is still pending. Normally, pardons are only handed out after a person has been convicted of a crime.
