The Philadelphia Eagles have Jalen Hurts waiting in the wings to take over for Carson Wentz, who has struggled mightily this season.
Unfortunately for the former Alabama and Oklahoma quarterback, and Philadelphia fans, Doug Pederson isn't ready to quit on his starter.
Doug Pederson said Carson Wentz would start next week. “No question about it. He’s our starter.”

Doug Pederson on why he isn't considering benching Carson Wentz: "I think you're sending the wrong message to your football team that this season is over, and that's a bad message."

Wentz added to his interception total on Sunday, throwing two picks, including one that was returned for a touchdown, in an ugly 22-17 loss to the Cleveland Browns. The 27-year-old has now thrown 14 interceptions on the season, which leads the NFL.
The interceptions are concerning, but Wentz also has been sacked a league-leading 36 times, indicating that Philadelphia has offensive line problems, too.
If Pederson opted to start Hurts, the rookie quarterback likely would face similar issues.
If Philadelphia struggles against the Seattle Seahawks next week, and Wentz delivers another poor performance, maybe Pederson will change his mind. For now, Wentz's job is secure, but he has proven that the Eagles will need a new quarterback sooner rather than later. After all, Wentz isn't the only one who led the Eagles to victory in Super Bowl 52.
