Drake Maye and the New England Patriots are on the rise, and wide receiver Stefon Diggs has played an important role on offense for head coach Mike Vrabel. Diggs may no longer be the superstar he once was, but there’s no denying that the four-time Pro Bowl wide receiver still brings a lot to the table for the Pats.
New England is back in action on Sunday in a Week 7 matchup against the Tennessee Titans. Diggs, however, was listed as questionable for the game after being limited in practice on Wednesday and Thursday due to a chest issue. The 31-year-old made significant progress, though, and was able to take part in Friday’s practice in full.
New England enters Sunday’s matchup on the heels of three straight wins. It has been a strong start for Maye in 2025, with the second-year quarterback already registering 131-of-179 completed passes (73.2%) for 1,522 yards and 10 touchdowns in his first six games of the season.
Diggs, on the other hand, has also started all six games for the Pats thus far. The former All-Pro wideout already has 32 catches this season for 387 yards. The former Buffalo Bills star, however, has yet to open his scoring account for the Patriots after signing a three-year, $69 million deal with the team in the offseason.
Diggs was in danger of missing his first New England game because of a chest injury. The good news, however, is that the former Maryland Terrapins standout is going to be available for the Titans game. This report comes via ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
“Patriots WR Stefon Diggs, listed as questionable for Sunday due to a chest injury, is expected to play vs. the Titans, per source,” posted Schefter on X.
Maye has a lot of weapons at his disposal in New England, but having Diggs on the field gives him a proven and reliable target. This development should also give offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels more flexibility in stretching the field vertically. Maye may be one of the top young quarterbacks in the game today, but the 23-year-old is only as good as his wideouts.
The Patriots travel to Nashville for Sunday's game against the Titans at Nissan Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled at 1:00 p.m. ET.
