Drake Maye’s big regret about Patriots, Eagles joint practice

With the New England Patriots in the midst of the second week of the preseason, the team is preparing to face the Philadelphia Eagles on Saturday, as the two teams are going through joint practice. As the joint practice sessions continue between the Patriots and the Eagles, star quarterback Drake Maye spoke about the time with the opposing team and what he regrets.

There’s no denying that Maye and the rest of New England are looking to put a stamp on the game after a season where they went all the way to the Super Bowl. Speaking to the media on Thursday, Maye would start by saying that the team “had a lot of great work” against Philadelphia.

“I think the biggest thing is that is a good football team over there, and I think just not riding the rollercoaster,” Maye said, via a transcript on the team’s website. “I feel like we had some good periods that we were attacking them and had some good plays. Then we had some periods where we got to continue the competitive stamina.”

However, Maye would continue talking about his individual performance against the Eagles during the joint practice sessions, specifically on Thursday, when he threw two interceptions, one in the red zone that was intended for newcomer A.J. Brown. Maye would highlight that pick regarding needing to improve in the red zone.

“I know it’s tough down there in the red zone, a lot of bodies in a short amount of space, but I feel like we could have done more in the red zone, and I think that is something for us to learn. It’s one of our focuses this year to be better in the red zone, so we got some work to do,” Maye said to the media on Thursday.

At any rate, Maye and Brown continue to develop a rapport with one another before the preseason game on Saturday against the Eagles and before the regular season opener on Sept. 9 against the Seattle Seahawks in a Super Bowl rematch.
