New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara has been a model of consistency since entering the NFL in 2017.

In eight seasons, he's earned several personal accolades, including winning Offensive Rookie of the Year, being named Second-Team All-Pro twice, and making five Pro Bowl appearances.

However, at the end of the 2024 season, Kamara missed the Saints' final three games after a groin injury he suffered in a Week 15 matchup against the Washington Commanders.

Drew Brees Reveals What He's Seen From Alvin Kamara

He is expected to be ready going into the 2025 season, and during a Wednesday appearance on "The Up & Adams Show," former Saints quarterback Drew Brees said, "Alvin Kamara looks as good as I’ve ever seen him."

At 30 years old, Kamara is hitting the age at which many players see regression, especially at a position as physically demanding as running back.

However, even with missing three games last season, he looked as consistent as ever, rushing the ball 228 times for 950 yards (career-high) and six touchdowns.

Kamara's ability to be a receiver out of the backfield didn't falter either, hauling in 68 receptions, 543 yards and two touchdowns on 89 targets.

Alvin Kamara's Role for the Saints in 2025

The Saints have never shied away from leaning on Kamara to carry the offense, and that will be especially true in 2025.

On Tuesday, the team announced second-year quarterback Spencer Rattler earned the starting spot over rookie second-round selection Tyler Shough.

Rattler, with just six career starts, is set to be one of the most inexperienced starting quarterbacks in the NFL. Being able to rely on Kamara as a consistent rusher and checkdown target will be crucial for the Saints.

Head coach Kellen Moore has a clear vision for Kamara this season, telling team reporter Josh DeShazier, "Alvin's obviously one of the premier players in our league, his ability to run the football and play in the pass game. And so, we want to utilize every aspect of that. He's going to be a really big-time, impactful runner, running the football first and foremost."

If Brees' take on Kamara is true, it could be a huge year for the 30-year-old, who is going into the first season of a two-year, $24.5 million deal.
