Drew Lock leads Seahawks on game-winning drive vs. Eagles

Lock entered Monday’s contest having started just one game in the NFL since 2021. That was last week, when Lock filled in for the injured Geno Smith. Smith’s status for Week 15 was uncertain up until it was Lock who came out onto Lumen Field for the first offensive drive of the game. Lock, who struggled in the 28-16 Week 14 defeat to the San Francisco 49ers (11-3), would get a chance at redemption.

For most of the game, it looked as if he wouldn’t. Seattle’s offense sputtered often, and Lock failed to make many splash plays with his arm. But on that final drive, Lock completed 5-of-10 passes for 92 yards and the score. He finished the night 22-of-33 for 208 yards. The game-winning drive is the fourth of Lock’s career and first since Week 8 of the 2020 season. The former Missouri standout was quarterbacking for the Denver Broncos then, and only made his way to Seattle in the deal which sent quarterback Russell Wilson to the Mile-High City.

The win comes at a time where the Seahawks desperately needed it, as they entered Monday’s game having dropped four in a row. With the win, Seattle stays alive in the NFC playoff picture, though just on the outside looking in of the seventh and final spot, currently occupied by the Los Angeles Rams (7-7). The Rams own the tiebreaker over the Seahawks after beating them twice earlier this season.

The Eagles, meanwhile, are now losers of three straight. Their NFC East rivals, the Dallas Cowboys (10-4), remain atop the NFC East despite slipping up in Week 15 against the Buffalo Bills (8-6).
