The Broncos will be looking to improve their team this offseason in a multitude of ways, including the front seven. Upcoming free agent defensive tackle DJ Jones’s decision will certainly affect how the defensive line stacks up in 2025.
Jones signed a three-year deal worth $30 million with Denver three years ago and is once again looking to cash in following a solid season for the Broncos where he recorded 42 tackles and a sack.
Jones spoke with the Denver Post’s Parker Gabriel in January and was not shy in expressing his desire to return, “I feel like we’ve built some culture here…We’ve brought some culture back. I’d love to come back.”
The 30-year-old interior defensive lineman’s projected market value by Spotrac is a one-year deal, worth $11.2 million. The Broncos will have until March 10th to negotiate with Jones until other teams can open up talks with the eight-year veteran.
While losing Jones at an already vulnerable position would be concerning, Denver may look to completely overhaul the position with youth or fresh faces via free agency. Broncos defensive linemen under contract heading into 2025 currently include Zach Allen, John Franklin-Myers, Malcolm Roach, Jonah Elliss, Eyioma Uwazurike, Matt Henningsen, and Jordan Miller.
