DT Raekwon Davis Arrested For Alleged Aggravated Assault

The criminal complaint explains that Davis had been a customer of the complainant for about a year and a half and had arranged for an employee of the complainant to come to his home to detail and clean his vehicle last weekend. The complainant woke up the next day to several texts from Davis demanding to know where the key to his vehicle was. The complainant located the key in his work van, and hired an Uber Courier to deliver the key to Davis.

It’s then detailed that the courier transported the key, claiming to have placed it on a vehicle that matched the description of Davis’. Unable to locate the key, Davis informed the complainant that the courier must have left the key on a different vehicle that was no longer at the location. The complainant offered to hire a locksmith to cut and program a replacement key and showed up at Davis’ residence for the appointment with the locksmith.

At some point, the locksmith began having issues programming the key fob, making it so that the vehicle would not start. The complaint then details the account of the complainant, which claims Davis allegedly charged at him with both arms outstretched, pushing him into a fence then putting him on the ground. The complainant alleges that Davis then got on top of him and began to strangle him before calling for an associate to get his gun. After Davis acquired the firearm, the complainant claimed that he pointed the weapon at the locksmith, telling them to “look away or keep working,” before turning the weapon towards him.

The complainant then claims to have “bucked” Davis off of him before calming Davis from any further aggressions and claims to have convinced Davis to allow him to pay the locksmith and leave. Both workers were allowed to depart, at which point the complainant reached out to the police to make a file of the incident. Davis’ attorney, Vivian King, released a statement alleging Davis’ innocence.

“Raekwon Davis was arrested at his home on Thursday, September 3, 2026,” the statement reads. “He has no criminal record. He is being held at “No Bond,” even though Texas Law provides that persons charged with felonies are required to get a bond within 48 hours. Raekwon is eager to make bond and prove his innocence. There were witnesses, but the police did not interview these witnesses or list the witnesses in the police report.

“While Raekwon sits in jail, the police raided his house with a search warrant Friday, September 4, 2026. According to police records, they did not take anything from his home. These allegations are false and appear to be motivated by money. On the same day Raekwon was arrested, on September 3, 2026, Raekwon’s civil attorney received a Letter of Representation from the complainant’s civil lawyer.”

Davis, a second-round pick out of Alabama in 2020, was previously a three-year starter for the Dolphins. Starting 12 of 16 games as a rookie, Davis impressed in his first year with Pro Football Focus (subscription required) grading him the 37th best interior defender out of 124 players graded at the position. In each subsequent season, he ranked as 108th out of 138, 114th out of 127, 79th out of 130, and 113th out of 118, per PFF.

Miami had kept him in his full-time starting role for the first two of the lesser seasons, but his role reduced in the final year of his rookie deal as he only started seven of 17 game appearances. As a free agent, Davis signed a two-year, $14MM deal with the Colts, who hoped to pull out some of his talent in a new system, but after his 113th-ranked campaign, they released him shortly into the offseason. He did not find a contract for the 2025 season, and this week’s arrest will make any return to the NFL for Davis an uphill climb.
