Dynasty Tight Ends to Target This Off-Season

The final installment in our series of fantasy articles deals with dynasty tight ends whom we feel are excellent targets or values to acquire. The fantasy season is an ongoing process for dynasty owners. Existing Managers or those taking over an orphaned team need to be constantly looking to improve their rosters. The keen owner will be actively looking to acquire players who can be had for less and have the potential to out-produce their current ADP. Target players coming off an injury or a disappointing season. We have our eye on two talented tight ends who would be good additions to dynasty rosters in 2025 and beyond.

Dynasty Tight Ends to Target This Off-Season

Our first dynasty tight-end target will be Dalton Kincaid of the Buffalo Bills. Kincaid is a perfect example of a player who disappointed fantasy owners big time in 2024. He finished as the overall fantasy TE29, which was far below his pre-season ranking as a TE1. The recency bias on Kincaid has sat in. This is a great time to pry him away from his current owner. The NFL is a quarterback-driven league, and acquiring assets that are tied to an elite talent like Josh Allen is a great strategy.

As we looked at Kincaid’s 2024 metrics, his overall receiving numbers were positive. His 75 targets were top 15, and keep in mind he only played in 13 games. In 2024, he improved in multiple key categories. His target share, yards per route run, and targets per route all increased. Two more important key points: First, Kincaid’s expected weekly average was 10.0 PPR points per game but finished at 8.0. So you can see, he is due for positive regression. Some might say 10.0 PPR points per game is nothing, but that would have been Cade Otton, the 2024 TE11. Second, his catchable ball rate dropped from nearly 90% in 2023 to 69% this season. Kincaid is just 25 years old and has high-level tight-end production in his future. Take advantage and buy the dip in the off-season.

Jake Ferguson is a Tight End to Target

We spoke in our very first article about targeting Dak Prescott in dynasty leagues. It makes logical sense to try and acquire Jake Ferguson this off-season. You have to consider Prescott’s injury when you evaluate his targets. In the five games he played with Prescott, not only was Ferguson a top-10 tight end, but his snap rate was 69%, and he garnered a respectable 18% target share. Ferguson may currently sit as just the overall TE18 in dynasty rankings but produced as a TE1 with Prescott under center.

Again, we are looking to target players that can outperform ADP and cost us little capital. As an owner who may thin at the tight end or one who may be worried about Travis Kelce retiring, go after the 26-year-old Ferguson. There is some obvious unknown within the Cowboys offense, but that can be used to our advantage. From what we have read, new head coach Brian Schottenheimer has the support of Dak Prescott, and any ambiguity or unknown can be used to our advantage to acquire Ferguson. Speaking of Kelce, Noah Gray better be another dynasty tight end on your radar!
