Make no mistake about it. This Atlanta Falcons draft class looks like one of the best in years.
The Atlanta Falcons' clear goal for the 2025 NFL Draft was to address the pass rush situation (or lack thereof) by adding players who would make an impact immediately. They have done just that with the newest additions, including the undrafted free agents who were brought in as well.
Players such as Jalon Walker and James Pearce Jr. are versatile and can disrupt the quarterback on every down. Walker views himself as an alpha already on defense and will make an immediate/impactful presence there. He has already drawn comparisons to Micah Parsons of the Dallas Cowboys.
Pearce Jr. has one of the quickest first steps in the game and can get around defenders with an arsenal of moves. His draft stock slipped a bit during the offseason, but he was always considered a late first-rounder, or at minimum an early-round two selection.
Atlanta also hit on the secondary by drafting Xavier Watts from Notre Dame and Billy Bowman Jr. from the Oklahoma Sooners. Each athlete could potentially have a field day with the young quarterbacks in the NFC South. Both defenders are constantly around the football, making plays.
Jack Nelson from Wisconsin will add a big-bodied offensive lineman to help give Michael Penix Jr. time in the pocket. Nelson has a few weaknesses and needs to get a little stronger to tangle with NFL defenders, but that is to be expected out of the 7th round of the draft. It is not necessarily a project pick, but one that may be lacking in an area or two.
The amount of talent Atlanta brought in with UDFAs is also reason to be optimistic. Kansas Jayhawks defensive back Cobee Bryant will look to make the team after going undrafted, and he has a great chance to do so. He would state, "Crazy if you think 26 corners better than me."
San Jose State wide receiver Nick Nash was one of the best in the nation over his career. The 6-3, 205-pounder had an outstanding season for the Spartans, leading all FBS receivers with 104 catches for 1,382 yards and 16 TDs. He could add another weapon to an already deep, wide receiver room.
