The Philadelphia Eagles and San Francisco 49ers might be rivals on the field, but that won't stop them from talking business.

On Friday afternoon, ESPN's Adam Schefter announced that Philadelphia and San Francisco have been negotiating a trade involving defensive end Bryce Huff. He's entering the second year of his $51 million contract with the Eagles.

According to Schefter, the Eagles and 49ers are finalizing a deal that'll send Huff to the Bay Area in exchange for a mid-round pick. This trade can't be processed until after June 1 due to the pass rusher's contract situation.

In order to make this deal work, Huff had to rework his contract with the Eagles.

"Before the trade can get finalized next week, the Eagles restructured Bryce Huff’s contract this week," Schefter said. "He was set to make about $17 million fully guaranteed this season from Philadelphia, but the Eagles now will take on only $9.05 million in salary, leaving the 49ers responsible for the remaining $7.95 million due to Huff this season."

Huff struggled with the Eagles in 2024, recording just 13 tackles and 2.5 sacks in 12 games. That being said, there's reason to believe he'll bounce back on the 49ers.

In 2023, Huff had 29 tackles, 21 QB hits and 10 sacks for the New York Jets. His head coach at that time was Robert Saleh.

Interestingly enough, Saleh is currently the defensive coordinator for the 49ers. If there's a coach out there who can get the best out of Huff, it's him.
