Eagles accomplish feat no other 2025 team has done in latest rankings

After the Philadelphia Eagles' 2024 Super Bowl run, it became very clear how talented this roster truly was.

The Eagles lost multiple players to free agency, trade, or retirement including Darius Slay, Josh Sweat, Brandon Graham. C.J. Gardner-Johnson, and Milton Williams. Despite all those players lost, Philadelphia still has a stacked roster with young players ready to take the next step in their careers.

How talented is this roster? Well, CBS Sports senior writer Pete Prisco thinks 10 players on the Eagles are the top 100 players in the NFL going into the 2025 season. That is the most of any team in the NFL. Here's how all of them were ranked:

  • Saquon Barkley (3)
  • Lane Johnson (12)
  • Jordan Mailata (13)
  • Jalen Carter (17)
  • A.J. Brown (31)
  • Zack Baun (40)
  • Jalen Hurts (52)
  • Quinyon Mitchell (69)
  • Landon Dickerson (72)
  • Cooper DeJean (85)

Eagles prove they have the talent to repeat as Super Bowl champions

There has never been any questions about the Eagles' offense outside of their new offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo. They have six players who made the top 100, including three in the top 15 alone.

No surprise that Barkley is the highest ranked player on the team as he lands in third. His 2,504 rushing yards in the regular season and postseason made it easy to have him ranked that high. The two men who helped open the holes for Barkley, Johnson, and Mailata go back-to-back in the rankings at 12 and 13.

Philadelphia's defense has some questions at some positions, but four players still found their way to the top 100. Similar to Barkley, Carter being ranked as the top defender on the team is not a surprise as he made the top 20 after being an All-Pro in 2024. The team's leading tackler, Zack Baun, managed to get into the top 50.

What was most impressive about the Eagles players in the top 100 was the two rookies in Mitchell and DeJean cracking the list. For guys who have played only one season and be considered some of the best cornerbacks and defenders in the league shows how scary the secondary will be for years with those two.

Eagles general manager Howie Roseman deserves a ton of credit for acquiring these 10 players. From drafting seven of the 10 selections to making an impressive trade for Brown and taking risks by signing Barkley and Baun last offseason, it demonstrates how genius he has been over the previous decade.

People will continue this roster going into 2025, but it's pretty clear the Eagles have one of the best rosters in the NFL and they will be at the top for a long, long time. To the rest of the NFL, have fun with Philly.
