Saquon Barkley played through a groin injury in the Philadelphia Eagles’ disappointing 24-21 loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday. The All-Pro running back had a forgettable outing against Dallas, registering just 10 carries for a season-low 22 rushing yards.

The Eagles will look to bounce back in their next game, a Week 13 matchup against the Chicago Bears on Friday. The defending champs held their first practice of the short week on Tuesday, and the team provided a crucial update on Barkley and his groin issue. The three-time Pro Bowler was included in the Eagles’ estimated injury report.

Barkley has been pivotal to Philadelphia’s success this season. In 11 games played, the 28-year-old already has 185 carries for 684 yards and four touchdowns. He’s also caught 35 passes for 259 yards and two receiving TDs.

Barkley, however, is now dealing with a lingering groin injury. He was listed on the injury report last week heading into the Cowboys game, although he was able to practice in full. Barkley is back on the injury list again this week. The Eagles announced that the former Penn State Nittany Lions star was a limited participant in practice on Tuesday.

It is important to note that Tuesday’s practice was a walkthrough, and that the injury report was an estimation. The team will likely hold a full practice on Wednesday, and Barkley’s status for that one will be crucial in terms of his availability for Friday’s matchup.

Another name to watch would be wide receiver DeVonta Smith, who did not practice due to shoulder and chest injuries. Smith’s status for the Bears game is currently up in the air.

The Eagles enter Friday’s contest with an 8-3 record. The Bears, who are also 8-3, will travel to Philly to face the defending champs at Lincoln Financial Field. Kickoff for that game is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. ET.
