Eagles are built to expose the Packers’ sudden weakness
How 'fearless' Packers defense slammed door on Lions ground game 2 Detroit Lions tight end Sam LaPorta (87) makes a catch against Green Bay Packers linebacker Edgerrin Cooper (56) an defensive tackle Colby Wooden (96) during the second half at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wis., on Sunday, September 7, 2025.

The Packers might be catching the Eagles at the worst possible time, ahead of Monday night’s Week 10 clash at Lambeau Field.

Not only are the Eagles fresh off a bye, but Saquon Barkley and Philadelphia’s ground game began to resemble its dominant self the last time out, as the driving force behind a blowout victory over the New York Giants. That could be terrible news for defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley and Green Bay.

Eagles could exploit Packers’ suspect rushing defense

After being bottled up for much of the first half of the season, Barkley broke out against the Giants, rushing for a season-high 150 yards and a touchdown.

Meanwhile, the Packers’ ground defense has suddenly become a bit of a weakness.

Over at NFL Media, Dann Parr argues that Green Bay’s rushing defense could be its undoing against the Eagles.

“We’ve seen some cracks emerge in the Packers’ run defense,” Parr writes. “With the team allowing 5 yards per carry in the past two weeks. The inconsistency of the Pack this season leaves me unsure of what to expect from them. I lean slightly in Philly’s favor, given the circumstances.”

Barkley’s breakout, combined with the Eagles’ offensive line suddenly mauling up front in the ground game, could spell trouble for Green Bay.

The Packers enter Monday night’s game with the NFL’s fifth-ranked rushing defense but have surrendered 256 yards and two rushing touchdowns the past two games. Green Bay is going to need to be much more stout against the run against Barkley, than it was against Rico Dowdle if Green Bay is going to pull off the upset.
