Philadelphia Eagles head of security Dom DiSandro was hit with a significant fine by the NFL this week for a fairly minor reason.
DiSandro, known to Eagles fans as “Big Dom,” was fined by the league for texting from the bench area during a preseason game against the New York Jets. The offense cost DiSandro $75,000.

NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reported that the Eagles attempted to appeal the fine by arguing that DiSandro only had one foot in the bench area while sending the text. The NFL, however, was unmoved by that argument.
This is not Big Dom’s first run-in with the NFL. In 2023, the league banned him from the sideline for multiple games after he got into an in-game altercation with then-49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw during a game. On the other hand, he is hugely popular among the team’s fans, and is also beloved by players.
The $75,000 fine is a hefty sum for an individual who isn’t a player or coach. The league, however, does not want to give off the impression of team personnel cheating, even in a preseason game.
