Eagles' biggest bust for 2025 has already become painfully obvious

Among the new additions, the Philadelphia Eagles have one that does not appear to be the best move. In face, he might not make the 53-man roster.

During the offseason, the Eagles traded safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson and a 2026 sixth-round pick to the Houston Texans for a 2025 fifth-round pick and guard Kenyon Green. The deal was made to help the Eagles save money on their salary cap. It also gave them a young offensive lineman for Eagles offensive coordinator Jeff Stoutland to work with.

Philly was hoping for Green to potentially compete for the starting right guard job with Mekhi Becton signing with the Los Angeles Chargers in the offseason. It's not only not looking like that will happen, but Green might be lucky if he even makes the roster.

Green may get cut without even appearing in a regular season game for the Eagles

It was a promising start to Green's NFL career, as he was the 15th overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft by the Texans, starting 14 of his 15 games in his rookie season. A shoulder injury cost him the 2023 season, and he started just nine of 12 games last year.

Injuries and inconsistent play on the line hindered Green's NFL season. It was a big reason the Texans traded him as they did not view him as a starter anymore.

Now, Philadelphia needs to figure out how it wants to use Green. He had been playing left guard in Houston.

During offseason workouts, Green had stayed at left guard with the obvious being he wouldn't start over Landon Dickerson. The surprise is that Green is not even the second stringer. That honor went to Trevor Keegan.

No, Green was with the third team at left guard. Not only is Green nowhere close to starting, but a roster spot is also in jeopardy.

It's going to take an impressive showing at training camp and preseason for Green to earn a roster spot. Otherwise, he will either be on the practice squad or gone from Philly quicker than expected.
