Eagles' Bryce Huff deal just got worse after full trade details were revealed

Who knew that it would take Tank Bigsby's arrival in Philadelphia to finally understand what the full terms were for the Bryce Huff trade that occurred back in the summer?

Back in May, the Eagles traded Huff to the San Francisco 49ers in exchange for a mid-round pick. It was always somewhat of a mystery as to what that mid-round pick was, but now, fans have the details on it that will likely not work out in the Eagles' favor.

ESPN Eagles reporter Tim McManus initially reported that Philly was using the conditional fifth-round pick it received from the 49ers as part of the Jaguars trade on Monday for Bigsby. McManus clarified afterwards that the 49ers' pick was not used.

The more fascinating part of McManus' article was that the conditional fifth-round pick from San Francisco is contingent on Huff having eight sacks. If he hits that mark, it moves up to a fourth-round pick in 2026.

All Eagles fans have surrendered the idea that Huff will get those eight sacks

Eagles fans are familiar with this story. Huff won't reach the eight-sack mark anytime soon, so it's likely safe to assume the team will receive a fifth-round pick instead.

Last season, Huff only had 2.5 sacks in 12 games and didn't post a single stat in the postseason. In five seasons, Huff has only eclipsed eight sacks once, and that was in 2023 with 10. The next highest? 3.5 in 2022.

Eagles fans shouldn't hang their hopes on the idea that Huff will get there. Eagles general manager Howie Roseman overshot with his deal for Huff, and it backfired worse than any other deal he has made in his over two decades of experience in the front office.

This won't be a problem, though, as no matter if it is a fourth or fifth round pick, the Eagles will find a way to cash in and get a sleeper in the draft like they usually do.
