When people think about the city of Philadelphia in sports, the first team that always pops up is the Eagles.
The Eagles have one of the most passionate fan bases in all sports, as they can provide the most love to the team or be its harshest critic. Winning is all that matters, and the Eagles have proven to be the one team in Philadelphia winning the most over the last decade.
Among the four major leagues (NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB) in Philadelphia, the Eagles are the only ones to have won at least one championship in the last 10 years. The Eagles have won two and appeared in three Super Bowls in that span.
All that winning has helped Philadelphia fall in love with some of the Eagles' best players. It's a big reason the Eagles have the most stars in the city.
Bleacher Report writer Matt Velazquez examined all cities in the United States and selected the top 10 considered the most star-studded sports cities. Philadelphia was left out of the top five as the city landed at number six.
Velazquez selected five qualified star athletes from Philadelphia to help with the ranking. Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley, and A.J. Brown contributed most of the list, with Joel Embiid and Bryce Harper also included.
"The Philadelphia Eagles felt like they were one star away from a Super Bowl, so they went out and got Barkley from the rival New York Giants. As it turns out, they were right.
The trio of Hurts, Barkley and Brown elevated Philadelphia's offense while the defense took care of business to help the Eagles claim Super Bowl LIX in runaway fashion.
Outside of the NFL, Embiid and Harper have had MVP seasons in Philadelphia and helped their teams stay competitive in their respective leagues, though neither has been able to get their team to the mountaintop."
Hurts was not always loved in Philadelphia, as his second-round selection in 2020 was questioned by fans since Carson Wentz was the starter. That ended up working out in the Eagles' favor as Hurts' humble, hard-working style had Philadelphia fall in love with him.
Once Brown was brought in during the 2022 NFL Draft, Hurts had his number one receiver, and the pair have dominated since. Brown has led the Eagles in receiving yards every year he has been on the team and has been with the team in both of their Super Bowl trips in the last three seasons.
Barkley added a whole new element to the offense with his record-breaking rushing season, and being taken away from the Giants adds to his legacy. What was first questioned due to his health has become one of the most significant free agent signings in NFL history.
Philadelphia hopes to have the Sixers, Phillies, and Flyers play catch-up. Still, the city can lean on the Eagles as celebrating their Super Bowl title will continue until the hated Dallas Cowboys step on the field in Week 1.
