Cooper DeJean and the Philadelphia Eagles looked to continue their perfect 2025 NFL season in Week 4, hitting the road to face Baker Mayfield and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. DeJean, in his second season with the Eagles, has continued his strong start to his NFL career, tied for the team lead in tackles at 22 through the first three games.
With just over five minutes to play in the opening quarter of Eagles vs. Buccaneers, Mayfield hit running back Rachaad White for a four-yard gain before DeJean wrapped him up by his legs, bringing him down. After the play, the former Iowa cornerback celebrated by standing over White and staring him down. DeJean was called for taunting, gifting the Tampa Bay offense 15 yards.
This came just one play before DeJean picked up what would have been his first interception of the season, but after further review, it was reversed.
The NFL has been cracking down on penalties such as taunting, and after being flagged against the Buccaneers, DeJean can expect a fine. For a first offense, the penalty is $11,593, with the amount increasing to $17,389 for a second violation.
This would not be the first time DeJean has been fined by the NFL during the 2025 season. After a facemask from the Eagles' Week 1 win over the Dallas Cowboys, DeJean was fined $11,593, the same amount as a taunting charge.

Philadelphia linebacker Nolan Smith was also penalized $11,593 for taunting against the Cowboys, while defensive tackle Jalen Carter was fined the same amount for taunting against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 3.
Following the Buccaneers game, DeJean and the Eagles will return home for a Week 5 matchup against Bo Nix and the Denver Broncos.
