Eagles claiming Willie Lampkin triggers waiving of defensive back & more

Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman certainly was not done making moves as he continued his path to making the roster better after starting the day by waiving offensive lineman Trevor Keegan.

Roseman's next move was claiming former Los Angeles Rams center Willie Lampkin off waivers. Lampkin was an undrafted free agent of the Rams before the team cut him. PFF had him as the highest graded offensive lineman in the preseason.

That signing resulted in the Eagles waiving safety Tristin McCollum after two seasons with the team. McCollum had 39 tackles and two pass deflections in 17 games.

How the roster moves affect the Eagles in 2025

Lampkins appears to be a steal for the Eagles if the PFF grades stand up. He was a first-team All-American at North Carolina last year as he proved to be a good performer.

The Eagles have a need to fill as multiple players are struggling with snaps at center during training camp. Lampkins gives them a reliable center or could help out at guard with Landon Dickerson recovering from his meniscus injury he suffered at camp.

With McCollum being cut, it now leaves the Eagles with just three safeties to work with. It appears as though Cooper DeJean could truly be playing more safety in the upcoming season. Another way to look at it is that Andrew Mukuba's injury isn't as bad as fans think and should be back soon.

Bleeding Green Nation's Brandon Lee Gowton added one more element to the news. Long snapper Charley Hughlett is back on the 53-man roster. This was expected since the team needs a long snapper for the season.

The Eagles have returned to 53 men on the roster, but again, anything can change. Fans will have to wait to see what Roseman does next.
