Eagles Clinch History-Making Playoff Berth

It's only happened two other times in team history.

For the fourth consecutive year, the Philadelphia Eagles have clinched a spot in the playoffs with their 22-16 win over the Carolina Panthers, and with wins by the Seattle Seahawks and a loss from the Atlanta Falcons. Only Andy Reid's run from 2000-2004 and Dick Vermeil's team have reached that mark in franchise history.

The Eagles have made the playoffs now for the seventh time in the last eight seasons.

Sunday's victory over Carolina wasn't pretty, but it's hard in the NFL to consistently win at the clip the Eagles have under Nick Sirianni. Especially when you consider their win Sunday afternoon was the team's ninth straight on the year.

Each time the Eagles have won at least nine or more straight games, they have reached the NFC Title game (1960, 2003, 2017). It's also the third straight year where the Eagles have won 11 or more games each season - something only Andy Reid's tenure can lay claim to at this point.

Philadelphia isn't without their doubters. Plenty of people are unimpressed with the passing attack recording under 200 yards for the fourth time in five games.

At the end of the day, though, winning trumps all. The Eagles have plenty of signature wins this year where their passing offense has risen to the occasion. They also have a dynamic defense that has become one of the best in the game overall.

With a workman-like rushing attack led by MVP candidate Saquon Barkley, it's easy to see how there should be plenty of excitement still on the minds of the Eagles.

A fourth straight playoff appearance will do that as well.
