Eagles Could Reportedly Make Big Offseason Quarterback Move

Despite only being 10 months remove from winning a Super Bowl, there seems to be some tension between Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles.

Hurts, the reigning Super Bowl MVP, has struggled at times this season. Although he's thrown for 2,754 yards and 19 touchdowns in 13 games, he ranks 20th in QBR and is on pace to have his lowest completion percentage since 2021.

Following Monday night's five-turnover performance, Joe DeCamara of 94.1 WIP suggested that Hurts is playing for his job over the next few weeks. He even advocated for Tanner McKee to eventually get reps with the first-team offense.

“I did have him as the fifth ranked quarterback in pro football in my rankings entering the season, because he didn’t typically turn it over much. Obviously he does typically win a lot of football games, is very focused and has the legs. But guys, if he’s not going to use the legs, he ain’t that good,” DeCamara said. “If he’s not going to use the legs, he ain’t that good. That’s where I settle on. It’s Hurts this week, but beyond that, big old question mark, unless he gets his act together.”

While we're not sure if McKee will get his chance in Philadelphia, the rumors surrounding the Eagles' quarterback room won't go away anytime soon.

Will the Eagles replace Jalen Hurts?

According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, there's chatter around the league that Philadelphia might select a quarterback high in the 2026 NFL Draft.

"Some people around the league were starting to think the Eagles might draft a quarterback high in 2026 even before Jalen Hurts' four-interception performance Monday. The prediction from those folks: GM Howie Roseman snags a passer on Day 2, allowing Hurts to serve as the starter in 2026 while having a future starter to develop," Fowler wrote. "The Eagles know that their passing game struggles largely because Hurts has limitations. The reality is the 2024 season was an aberration because Saquon Barkley and a dominant O-line were breaking off big gains weekly, opening up play-action and downfield shots for the passing game. This isn't the same offensive line, which means the Barkley gains aren't as frequent. That places the spotlight on Hurts, for better or worse."

An industry source told Fowler: "[The Eagles] will do to Jalen what they did to Carson Wentz."

If the Eagles take a quarterback early in the 2026 draft, that'll undoubtedly fuel trade rumors involving Hurts.
