Some things are bigger than football, and DeVonta Smith's fiancée, Mya Danielle, proved that.
The future wife of Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith found out an Eagles fan is currently undergoing treatment for Ovarian cancer, and decided to put a smile on a fan's face who may not have much to smile about.
After receiving a "DM" from "TikTok" user Theresa Schmus, Ms. Danielle helped cheer up the user's mother by hand-delivering a signed jersey of Smith's. Currently, Schmus's mother (Patty) is battling Stage 4 Ovarian Cancer, and states that Smith is her favorite player.
Schmus relayed that on a recent text on her video, “My mom was having a tough morning and a long chemo session and couldn't stop talking about how much she loves DeVonta Smith. I took a risk and "DMed" his wonderful fiancée on Instagram."
Upon receiving the 'DM", Ms. Danielle sprang into action, reaching the hospital within a couple of hours after the conversation. Schmus states that her mother has never owned an Eagles jersey before and hasn't ever been to an Eagles game. The clear shock and joy that Patty expressed in the now viral video is an understatement, as Schmus was nearly brought to tears upon opening the gift and receiving a handwritten note from Ms. Danielle.
Danielle and Smith have been engaged since December 2024, after publicly announcing their relationship in January 2023. The couple has two children together, a daughter born in September 2023 and a second daughter born in April 2025. Smith recently signed a three-year, $75 million deal in April of 2024, keeping him in Philadelphia up till 2029.
For fans of the Eagles (and Smith), seeing their favorite players make an impact on the field is extremely special, but to make an impact off the field shows the type of character that Smith and his family possess on issues bigger than football.
