Eagles fans theorize Derek Barnett cut could open door to signing 4x All-Pro

Philadelphia Eagles fans suspect general manager Howie Roseman  cut former first-round defensive end Derek Barnett to make room to bring in a four-time All-Pro linebacker after the Indianapolis Colts cut Darius Shaquille Leonard this week.

The Colts made the surprise cut weeks after Leonard complained about his lack of snaps on the defense this season. The Colts have been weary of playing Leonard too often due to his injury history. Leonard finished the 2022 season on injured reserve due to his back.

Leonard cleared waivers this week, making him a highly coveted free agent. Leonard has been linked to playoff contenders, including the Minnesota Vikings, Dallas Cowboys, and Eagles.
