The Philadelphia Eagles wrapped up their 2024 NFL preseason on Saturday afternoon against the Minnesota Vikings.
The Birds almost went undefeated after beating the Baltimore Ravens and New England Patriots, but fell 26-3 to Minnesota. The good news is that wins and losses don't matter for another two weeks when they travel to Brazil for their Week 1 matchup against the Green Bay Packers.
Until then, Philly's next task will be getting their 90-man roster down to 53 players by Tuesday afternoon.
Here's a look at my final prediction for the Eagles' 2024 53-man roster.
Quarterbacks (3): Jalen Hurts, Kenny Pickett, Tanner McKee
Running Backs (3): Saquon Barkley, Kenny Gainwell, Will Shipley
Wide Receivers (5): A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, Britain Covey, Jahan Dotson, Johnny Wilson
Tight Ends (3): Dallas Goedert, Grant Calcaterra, E.J. Jenkins
Offensive Line (10): Mekhi Becton, Jordan Mailata, Landon Dickerson, Cam Jurgens, Lane Johnson, Tyler Steen, Fred Johnson, Brett Toth, Trevor Keegan, Dylan McMahon
The Skinny: Mekhi Becton earned the starting right guard job over Tyler Steen in Week 1 of the NFL preseason. Rookie running back Will Shipley was included among the starters who did not dress against Minnesota. What the Eagles decided to do with their wide receiver room will be interesting. They added Jahan Dotson in a trade via the Washington Commanders so it's unlike Parris Campbell or Ainias Smith make the initial roster unless they keep six there. Smith struggled early but he had a great preseason finale showing.
Outside linebackers (6): Bryce Huff, Josh Sweat, Brandon Graham, Jalyx Hunt, Patrick Johnson, Nolan Smith
Defensive line (6): Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis, Milton Williams, Moro Ojomo, Thomas Booker IV, Marlon Tuipulotu
Linebackers (5): Devin White, Zack Baun, Nakobe Dean, Ben VanSumeren, Jeremiah Trotter Jr.
Cornerbacks (5): Darius Slay, Isaiah Rodgers, Kelee Ringo, Quinyon Mitchell, Cooper DeJean
Safeties (4): C.J. Gardner-Johnson, Reed Blankenship, Avonte Maddox, James Bradberry (***Sydney Brown remains on the PUP list)
The Skinny: The Eagles didn't have their starters dressed for Saturday's season finale which included James Bradberry and Avonte Maddox, who are now listed as safeties. That must mean Bradberry saved his job or could be used as trade bait. Rookie linebacker Jeremiah Trotter Jr. is showing that he's just like his All-Pro dad and beat out Oren Burks. Burks should still stick around the practice squad.
Kicker (1): Jake Elliott
Punter (1): Braden Mann
Long snapper (1): Rick Lovato
The Skinny: There's not much to say here since these guys were locked in well before preseason.
