Eagles GM Howie Roseman Says 2024 ‘Will Be Different’ Due To Jalen Hurts Contract

Howie Roseman wants to keep Jalen Hurts for the long-term

The Philadelphia Eagles enjoyed tremendous success with Jalen Hurts. Vice president/general manager Howie Roseman wants to keep Hurts in Philadelphia for the long term. Hurts finished second in the NFL MVP race last season and led the Eagles to an NFC Championship and a Super Bowl appearance. However, Hurts’ new contract will change the dynamic of the Eagles.

According to the Eagles’ site, Roseman said, at the League Annual Meeting, that extending Hurts is a priority. He added that it would complicate the roster:

“You have to navigate the offseason understanding that we’re not going to lose our franchise quarterback with one year left on his deal. Whatever that means, it means that 2024 is going to look different. We’re not going to have a quarterback on a rookie deal. We’re going into it with our eyes open and understanding that we’ve got to kind of flip it. A lot of guys on our team, especially on offense, have long-term deals. It’s not like we don’t have a bunch of guys who aren’t on long-term deals.”

The Eagles built a great team as Hurts progressed to help him lead the team to the Super Bowl. Once Hurts signs the extension, it’s going to be on him to be a leader like Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is to get his team back to the Super Bowl.
