This news comes just a few hours after reports indicated that the Eagles did not intend to place Hurts on injured reserve. It is not clear what changed. The Eagles may have received some concerning information from doctors, or they might just be acting out of an abundance of caution.
Hurts was already out with a blood clot that was discovered before the Eagles’ loss in London to the Jacksonville Jaguars. The quarterback is essentially out indefinitely, as he will be unable to play until the clot situation has been resolved. There is no clear idea how long that will actually take, and the team simply has to see how well he responds to treatment.
Hurts has thrown for 933 yards with eight touchdowns and three interceptions in five games so far this season.
