The matchup between the Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Football Team was one of several Week 15 games rescheduled because of COVID-19 issues, specifically those impacting Washington ahead of the weekend.
It appears that contest being moved to Tuesday benefitted a key member of the Philadelphia offense.
According to Tim McManus of ESPN, Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni told reporters that quarterback Jalen Hurts is on track to start against Washington after the signal-caller missed the win over the New York Jets on Dec. 5 with a sprained left ankle. Philadelphia was on the bye last week.
"I feel pretty confident and feel really good about where he is at right now," Sirianni said of Hurts, who has no official injury designation as of Monday night. Sirianni added Hurts would've been questionable had the Washington game not been pushed back two days.
Backup Gardner Minshew filled in for Hurts against the Jets and completed 20-of-25 passes for 242 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions in the win that propelled the Eagles to 6-7 overall. Both Philadelphia and Washington (6-7) remain in the hunt in the NFC playoff picture ahead of Christmas but can't afford missteps over their last four games.
