Eagles HC Nick Sirianni shares promising injury update on Jalen Hurts

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts rocked a left knee brace during the second half of Sunday night's 31-17 win over the Miami Dolphins, but head coach Nick Sirianni sounded unconcerned regarding Hurts' long-term health while speaking with reporters Monday.

"Seemed like he was in good spirits and good [Monday]," Sirianni said about Hurts, as shared by Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk. "We’ll see later in the week of how he’s feeling and everything. I know that he battled through being uncomfortable [Sunday]. He can answer some of those questions as far as how he felt and all those different things."

Hurts completed 23-of-31 pass attempts for 279 yards with two touchdowns and an interception returned for a score in Sunday's victory. While he also tallied a touchdown on the ground, his 21 rushing yards were the fewest he's thus far accumulated in a single game this season.

The 6-1 Eagles next play at the 3-4 Washington Commanders this coming Sunday. OddsChecker listed the Eagles as six-and-a-half-point favorites for that contest as of late Monday afternoon, and one would think that suggests sportsbooks expect Hurts to play at FedExField.

Also on Monday afternoon, NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport tweeted that Hurts' knee issue "is nothing that would keep him out of a game" and may not "even keep him out of practice" this week.

"I just know this guy is tough as nails and is going to do everything he can do to help our football team win," Sirianni added about Hurts on Monday. "He knows to help our football team win he has to be on the field, and just credit to him for him playing one of his better games this season through some discomfort that he had [Sunday]."

According to ESPN stats, Hurts entered Monday evening ranked ninth in the NFL among qualified players with a 61.9 adjusted QBR and sixth with 1,821 passing yards on the season.

He was second among quarterbacks at that time with 274 rushing yards, and he contributed nine touchdown passes to go along with six rushing scores across Philadelphia's first seven games.
