Eagles' Jalen Hurts sounds ecstatic about A.J. Brown's replacement

The Philadelphia Eagles knew A.J. Brown would most likely be traded before the season.

They signed Marquise "Hollywood" Brown, drafted Makai Lemon and traded for Dontayvion Wicks. Of the three, the former Green Bay Packers depth piece might be in for the bigger role, especially considering that former Packers QBs coach Sean Mannion is now Eagles offensive coordinator.

However, that's not the only reason why he might be in for an increased workload next season. Apparently, he's already won over Jalen Hurts.

“He’s got great work ethic. He’s got great hunger. In the summertime, he was beating down the door, trying to spend time and just work,” Hurts told the media.

While Wicks hasn't been in the City of Brotherly Love for long, Hurts is already impressed with his body of work and the skills he can bring to the table.

“He can attack the ball. You can see who has that anger to them. Who has a little bit of rage in them. For the best. He’s got it. That’s exciting to see. He runs great routes. It’ll be exciting to see him work this season with the aggression that he has,” added Hurts.

Of course, expecting him to replicate A.J. Brown's production might be unfair and unrealistic. That said, Brown and Hurts didn't always see eye to eye, which may also have led to his diminished production.

If Hurts trusts Wicks, he'll likely try to find him early and often, and he's shown enough flashes of strong play to make the Eagles feel he can be a featured player. Wicks was never going to break out in the Packers' stacked wide receiver room. Now, he's the likeliest candidate to be the WR2 opposite DeVonta Smith.
