Eagles Jalen Hurts Video Going Viral Raises Injury Worries

Philadelphia Eagles fans have reason to be both jubilant and anxious after their team's hard-fought 28-22 victory over the Los Angeles Rams in Sunday’s NFC Divisional Round. Troubling footage has emerged of quarterback Jalen Hurts showing visible signs of a knee injury after the game, raising questions about his availability for next week’s NFC Championship Game.

Hurts, who has already dealt with a concussion earlier this season, appeared to sustain the injury in the second half but managed to play through it. While he led the Eagles to victory, his limited mobility was apparent and impacted Philadelphia’s passing game. The team relied heavily on Saquon Barkley, whose dominant 205-yard rushing performance helped secure the win.

When asked about his knee condition during a postgame interview with NBC sideline reporter Melissa Stark, Hurts offered little clarity. “I’m sure I’ll get asked about it later. I don’t know if I can answer right now,” he said. “I finished the game.”

However, video footage shared by Yahoo! Sports senior NFL reporter Jori Epstein added to the concern. In the clip, Hurts is seen walking off the field alongside the Eagles’ security director, Big Dom. Hurts moves deliberately, clearly favoring his left knee and leg.

“Judge for yourself Jalen Hurts’ injured knee as Eagles QB walks off the field…to advance to third NFC Championship in two years,” Epstein wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Fans were quick to react to the footage, with one commenting, “Yup, he hurting.” Another wrote, “Praying for him. We need Jalen at full strength next week.”

The timing of Hurts’ injury couldn’t be worse for the Eagles, who will host the NFC Championship Game next Sunday, January 26, at 3 p.m. ET. The winner will advance to Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans to face either the Kansas City Chiefs or Buffalo Bills.

Hurts' mobility is a cornerstone of Philadelphia’s offensive strategy, particularly in its use of RPOs (run-pass options) and designed quarterback runs. While his toughness is unquestioned, the team’s medical staff faces a critical week as they work to ensure Hurts is ready for the biggest game of the season.

Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni expressed cautious optimism during his postgame press conference.

“Jalen’s a warrior. We know that. We’ll evaluate him and see where things stand, but he’s tough as nails. If there’s any way he can go, he’ll be out there.”

The Eagles’ championship hopes may hinge on Hurts’ ability to play at or near full strength. With their franchise quarterback facing a crucial week of recovery, all eyes will remain on Philadelphia’s practice reports and injury updates leading into Sunday’s showdown.
