Eagles’ Jonathan Greenard Expected To Play In Week 3

Greenard represented Philly’s main offseason acquisition. After adding the star pass rusher in a trade with the Vikings, the Eagles immediately signed him to a four-year, $100MM extension ($50MM guaranteed). The veteran is expected to add some major reinforcement to their pass-rush corps.

However, a pectoral injury sidelined the veteran for much of training camp and the first few weeks of the regular season. With Greenard out of the lineup, the Eagles have had to rely on third-year edge defender Jalyx Hunt, who the team was counting on to continue his ascent in 2026, and fourth-year man Nolan Smith, who is coming off an underwhelming 2025 season.

When healthy, Greenard has been a force on the edge. Between 2023 and 2024, the pass rusher compiled 24.5 total sacks in stints with the Texans and Vikings. His second season in Minnesota didn’t go as planned; he was limited to only three sacks in 12 games before missing the end of the year with a shoulder injury. As Greenard sought a raise on his impending 2026 salary, the Vikings decided to shop him, ultimately sending him to Philly for a pair of third-round picks.

The Eagles made a handful of additional moves ahead of tonight’s game, promoting tight end Zach Ertz and linebacker Chance Campbell from the practice squad. Ertz reunited with the Eagles last week, re-joining the organization that selected him in the second round of the 2013 draft. With Dallas Goedert nursing a knee injury, Ertz will be inserted into a TEs corps that includes Johnny Mundt and E.J. Jenkins.

Campbell spent the majority of the 2025 season on the Eagles practice squad, and that’s where he started the 2026 campaign.
